Elizabeth E. Meyer founded J Class Management Inc. in 1988 to restore, preserve, document and manage classic yachts and historic buildings. Marcia J. Whitney joined Meyer at J Class in 1990. Together, Whitney and Meyer have rescued and restored hundreds of irreplaceable yachts and houses, preserving historically significant parts of the world's maritime and architectural heritage. J Class Management's showcase projects include: Endeavour, Shamrock V, Coronet, Seminole, Bystander, Halloween, Savannah and Cangarda.
Under the aegis of the International Yacht Restoration School, founded by Meyer in 1993 and managed by Meyer and Whitney until 2003, J Class has restored more than 250 additional classic sailing and power yachts including designs by Nathaniel Herreshoff, Starling Burgess, Olin Stephens, George Lawley, Clinton Crane, Ray Hunt, William Fife and Charles Nicholson. In recognition of her work in maritime and architectural preservation, Meyer has received numerous awards including the National Trust for Historic Preservation President's Award, the World Superyacht Society Lifetime Legacy Award and Yachting Magazine's Outstanding Yachtsman of the Year Award.
Today, J Class Management Inc. continues to provide restoration, preservation and event management services for historically important yachts and houses.
